Toba Loa (Black Bay)

Toba Loa has become a landmark in Taveuni Estates. Built in 1985, its owner’s love of Taveuni is evident in every square inch. Located on one of the estates best waterfront locations, Toba Loa blends quaintly into its environment and offers its occupants Fiji Island living in its purest form.

Toba Loa in Fijian means ‘Black Bay’ and is named for the volcanic rock forming the miniature private bay on the foreshore of the property. Within this little bay and beyond, the rich underwater coral and marine life can be seen from the house and a garden path provides easy access for snorkeling. Looking over the bay, neighboring islands dot the horizon in all their colours across the majestic Somosomo straits.

Sitting within approximately an acre of land, Toba Loa’s unique island appearance was based on a combination of Fijian design and the Samoan Fale.It’s now iconic shingle roof covers a stone and wooden frame creating a charming exterior that faces a truly stunning ocean vista.

The house sits within beautifully landscaped tropical gardens that feature a variety of palms, flowering trees and tropical ferns. Fruit is in abundance here and breakfast is practically taken care of each morning by the banana, pawpaw, mango, avocado, pomelo and pineapples that are found around the garden.

The large wooden front doors reveal the centerpiece of the house, a hexagonal living room/kitchen that completely opens to the feature view. On either side of the living room are two master bedroom suites complete with ensuite-bathroom, private sitting areas and their own views across the Somosomo straits. The house features polished hardwood floors; is powered entirely by solar while cooking, refrigerator and instant hot water are from bottled gas (LPG). The house comes fully furnished and ready for immediate occupation.

All lot owners at Taveuni Estates also enjoy fresh piped, mountain spring water, free access to the golf course, tennis courts and swimming pool.
