Vatu
Loa consists of three separate traditional pole
houses built on a plot brimming with tropical
vegetation. The entire house comprises of a living
area with open plan kitchen, four bedrooms and
three bathrooms.
Vatu
Loa makes the most of the site's excellent elevation
for maximum ocean views. The central structure is
the main living area and kitchen, and on either
side of this are the suite and master suite. The
living area has been designed to allow for an extension
in the future which will incorporate an extra bedroom.
Versatile
wooden louvre shutters are an ideal feature for
a tropical dwelling. They can be left open to let
in cool afternoon breezes, and slanted or shut completely
to block off intense sunlight.
Local
timber is ideal for the outdoor decks and balustrades.
The
reed finish on the outer walls of the house is an
attractive and cost effective finish.
The
layout of the three separate pole house structures
allows for maximum privacy.
